Rotary E-Club of Heritage New York is living up to its name.  We are truly an e-Club.  During this 2019-20 Rotary year - the first full year of our existence, we have had service projects from Long Island to Manhattan to Westchester.  We even sent supplies to Haiti and are now preparing for our Global Grant Project in Bangladesh.

Members - A Rotary Salute to you and your agility.  We are all in this together.  Your support and kindness brought much happiness and smiles to a lot of needy people who will never see you or know you.  On their behalf - a huge Thank you !

Here are our projects this year so far:

District Matching Grant (NUHospital)
Donation of $2,500 from President S.Zaki Hossain.  Our District is matching it with $2,500.  The project title is "Hospital Entrance Revitalization".  Classic Park benches are being installed at the entrance of Nassau University Hospital for patients' and visitors' comfort as they wait for their transportation.  The benches have a plaque stating the donation from the Rotary E-Club of Heritage New York. The project is expected to be completed soon.

Coat (Rotaract Club of Manhattan)
We collected coats and donations and through the Rotaract Club of Manhattan arranged for donations of these coats to the needy people in New York City.  Rotarian Tabin Ahmad, on behalf of the Club, provided a large part of our Club donation for this project.  The coats were handed over to the Rotaract Club of Manhattan at one of their meetings, where they were combined with other donations of coats and sent to the needy people.

Food Pantry
The project was done in December.   Several members of the HeritageNY Rotary Club helped pack food obtained through donations and purchased from the project funds at Mary Brennan Interfaith Nutrition Network - INN (soup kitchen – with a 4-star Charity Navigator certification) in Hempstead, New York). Rtn. Rahat Hossain donated $200 on behalf of the Club.

HELP (Yonkers)
The Yonkers-East Yonkers Rotary Club provided a $750 Community Service Grant for our Club Project.  Rtns. Masum and Moni Qadeer opened their home for lunch and for members to put together bags of items for the community service project. Among those who packed the bags were the hosts, Rtns Aziz and Razia Ahmad, and Rtn Niru Mirza The supplies included small size tubes of hand lotion, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, soap, socks, small hand towels, toothpaste and toothbrush, all in a reusable colorful bag.  Several kits contained a pair of reading glasses.  The bags were distributed by Rtn. ATR Rahman, on behalf of the Club, to needy parents of young children at Queens Daughters Day Care Center in Yonkers.

Haiti (Yonkers)
Our Club participated in a joint project with the Rotary Club of Yonkers-East-Yonkers, one of the most dynamic clubs in the District.  Via the project, urgent supplies of clothing, household items and other essentials were sent to a Rotary Club in Haiti for local distribution.  Our Club member Rtn. Raaid Ahmad donated $200, on behalf of the Club, for purchase of canned foods and Rtn Lina Rahman donated clothing, shoes, books and household items.  All the items were packed in barrels by volunteers and shipped to a local Rotary Club in Haiti.

Turkey (Yonkers)
Our Club joined in with our sister Club - the Rotary Club of Yonkers-East Yonkers to bring a little Thanksgiving joy to some families in Yonkers.  Club member Rtn. Tabin Ahmad, on behalf of the Club, provided a donation of $100 for an additional five 20-lb turkeys to the overall joint donation.  These turkeys provided the recipient families with a Thanksgiving meal and perhaps a few more leftover meals too.  On behalf of the Club, Adviser Bina Ahmad handed over the turkeys to Rotarian Barbara Hanna of the Yonkers-East Yonkers Club on Wednesday,  25 November for delivery to the Hostos School in Yonkers, where they were given to needy families via a no-cost raffle.
